“Mate” and its cultural boundaries.

Is there anyone out there watching the Tour who’s noticing something a bit funny?

Like the fact that Paul Sherwen is suddenly saying “mate” all the time as he commentates the Tour?

Non-Aussie’s always sound a bit funny when they say the word “mate”.

Example: “And there goes Contador again attacking Rasmussen. With these attacks Contador is saying, “Mate, I’m not giving it to you that easy”.

Just an observation… Listen for it and you’ll see what I mean.

Bye bye.

One Response to “"Mate" and its cultural boundaries.”

he does say “mate” a lot…i always assumed that maybe they say it in south africa, too
, and he picked it up there. i don’t know any south africans so i can’t ask them.

another thing about paul….what exactly is a “job of work”? ever notice that from him?
isn’t that a bit redundant, like “ATM machine”?
