An afternoon full of Pain Cave potential…….

March 20, 2006 12:52 pm

I’ll put up some San Dimas S.R. post race jibber-jabber in a bit…….

The team and I are heading down to Santa Monica this afternoon to ride with a team of local juniors. It should be a good time. I hope those kids don’t try and take us to the Pain Cave…..juniors do that kind of goofy stuff you know. I know this because when I was their age, I tried to stick it to anyone or anything on two wheels. Riding with a pro team would have been one gigantic Royal Rumble for me. I would have shown up with race wheels and a pocket full of PowerGels. Honestly, after the crit yesterday and a slow, relaxing morning, I have no desire to pedal hard today.

If we find our way to the Pain Cave this afternoon, I’ll let you know who drops the flashlight first…..

Led Zeppelin and I

Led Zeppelin and I,

Back in the early 70’s, when I was just a young warthog, I was fortunate enough to get to tour with the mighty Led Zeppelin. They were in a bind and needed an experienced musician for a small but crucial role in a “Stairway to Heaven” performance. I stepped in to bravely and courageously play the cowbell, an instrument so stylish and toneful, yet far far underrated…….For nearly 8 whole minutes, I played the hell out of that cowbell, and then walked away, never to touch one again.
