My Letter to Mother Nature (2004)

For those that don’t know, Belgium’s weather is pretty rough. I’ve never quite figured it out, so I decided to write a letter to Mother Nature to see if she could shed some light on this situation. And believe it or not, she replied.

Dear Mother Nature,

I am writing you in regards to the current weather condition in Belgium. I have spent the past 4 years living on and off in this tiny country of friendly people. During those years I have noticed a general trend of poor weather. I realize the countries geographical location in Northern Europe may play a large role in this situation, but I feel that the problem is much deeper than that. This type of treatment seems personal and these kind and caring people do not deserve this type of meteorological assault. In the 365 days of last year, 415 of them were cloudy and or rainy. Mother Nature, at some point enough is enough. I would appreciate it if you could take time out of your busy worldwide schedule of hurricanes, tornados and floods to look into this situation. A bit of springtime sunshine would be much appreciated.

Hailing in Hertsberge,

Austin King
